I have just used ropes and a hand held weighing scale , it gives a rough idea not a pin point accurate system .

Saw the post today  Simplest thrust measuring device is by Mr KK Iyer. Iyer has used a brick and a weighing scale. You can contact him for details. Have a look at myrahulroy.blogspot.com.... It has a very simple portable rig for testing thrust, amp, watt
