Good Morning all Respected Friends, Colleagues and seniors..when my Respected Director, of my company, took me to show, a great mechanism, was a jet nozzle, with thrust vectoring capability, and nozzle expansion, he explained to me it as some thing tougher machine to make. yes indeed, it was incorporated with 60 tiny syringe like hydraulic actuators, backed up by, 4 massive hydraulic pistons, and a complicated pump and motor. but in final conclusion, its aim was nothing, but to alter the jet stream in to a desired position, with nozzle velocity.
and after seeing all function, he asked me, Roopa, can we make a mechanism, like this ..? is it possible..? it must be within a 7 inch Dia, and must be controlled with not hydraulics but only with mechanical method. why not..?  we must. and its not nessesary to use such complicated actuators to reach such result.

" if so, you never copy this like this, instead make one with your own design.." sure sir..
i am so sad that knowing, a group of final engineering students are not capable to make one like this..they spend a big money, that with that money we can buy a mid size sedan..the purpose of this mechanism, is to teach the aeronautical students..
so i realized this one..only used three simple gear boxes, and a simple wireless controller, as the instruction, as it must work with FBW. so cooll...make one your own..its too simple..and fascinating...

A practical Thrust Vectoring mechanism for a Gas Turbine engine is high technology area. The sheer fact that the nozzle works at a extremely high temperatures of Jet Exhaust (600-800 deg Centigrade, min) changes the mechanical and material science beyond reaches of  even common Mech Engineers.

To begin with, using hydraulic actuator would require Hydraulic fluid which can maintain stable consistancy at such high temperatures and you would also need an effective thermal  isolation system between the piston and the hydrolic system.
If you plane to use a direct-drive electro-mechanical drive like servos (which are yet not a practical yet), you need still need a very complex system to compensate for expansion of the rods in drive system (Push rods what we call).

Sounds bitter, but such systems are hard to make at home from commodity off the shelf materials. Even made, such systems would require even higher skilled Testers to ensure the system is reliable under standard operating condition, and beyond...

All the best to innovators! As they say "Risk of not doing research is bigger than risks from doing it"

Ujwana, this unit is not meant to fix an a real jet engine exhaust. but to fix on a mock up engine, to teach, aeronautical students about its nature, while we operates the joystick.

As a demo model, roopesh your effort is gr8, however real life thrust vectors are like johny says difficult to make, metallurgical nightmare, temperatures that exist turbine Are almost double of what johny pointed out, in some airplanes they use fuel to actuate the actuators, this fuel is now used to burn, having warmed up, the thermal efficiency increases as well, 3d nozzle is a big ball game altogether

Gusty sir is right, I thought EGT as I knew was in Fahrenheit, so I divided it by two to get same in Celsius (roughy)

Good after noon respected Veterans..its sure all we know a real jet engine is operated at very high temperature and pressure, that we need some exotic metals for those purpose. but here i made a simple mechanism, to depict the movements of a thrust vectoring nozzle, with velocity controls. its only meant for educational purpose. and a million thanks for the great advices and points that reminds the extremity of jet engine engineering..thanks once again Veterans.. :salute:

I wonder how you have achieved such complex control. Please would you like to share the details if possible.

Has it been tested with a EDF say 90mm? how is it going to be prevented from the nozzle opening up all by itself due to the back pressure of the EDF? Or was it just a working model to demonstrate the working of an Thrust Vectoring Nozzle?

Please share if you wish to. We would be enlightened.

Sundaram Sir, it is meant to teach pilot students about the nature of the thrust vectoring mechanism. its not completed. i have to make a big jet aircraft, with all working surfaces, all by FBW, while showing all criteria like angle, effect, like in an LCD screen.the aircraft will be on a stand, and a mock up cockpit will provided. so the students can learn the nature of jet thrust vectoring along with conventional surface movements. it also gives a high pressure air blow, through nozzle, achieved by a simple BLDC, along with jet engine sound. now i am programming the sound cards for this aircaft, including all warnings, like low terrain, high alpha, landing gear, air pressure, and all mandatory..its part of my modeling project. sure i will share all movement mechanism, as i shoot detailed videos and photographs.
