Title: Self Designed Gear Puller or Expensive Hobby grade puller??
Post by: alokhovercraft on May 24, 2012, 03:13:24 PM
Hello Members and Guests,
I am in need of a gear puller for use in many projects...

Saw this one at http://www.hobby-wing.com/motor-gear-puller.html (http://www.hobby-wing.com/motor-gear-puller.html)

some more at http://www.hobbysuperstore.com/search.htm?searchterm=puller&s_category=0&step=2 (http://www.hobbysuperstore.com/search.htm?searchterm=puller&s_category=0&step=2)

If I order it from above places it lands at twice thrice its original price... :o :o

Any ideas/suggestions for DIY Gear puller are welcome...

to pull out a gear, cam, head from a motor we can make pullers easily.. need an appropriate SS nut and bolt, then make a square "U" from appropritae metal, then drill a hole over the U, and can fix the nut, then bolt, yes must turn out the tip of the bolt, to the needed length, then can cut a metal washer in to two, then weld at the tips.. a hinge at the top of the U helps to use same puller in various sizes.. and if you have a hand arbor, need not any puller but only a base.. hacksaw a tiny ridge to an appropriate waser, then can place over tip mandrell, then insert the motor as gear faces up, then use a second rod to push out the original motor shaft.. cool..
