Update:

The DJI A3 Pro flight controller just came in the mail last night. Did not get to have a look at it properly or get a good picture, however, will upload what I have.

Sahevaan

Here are some better pictures.

Update - DHL Emailed me saying the package with the batteries should clear by tomorrow and if it does, then we should be able to test fly by the end of the coming week!

Congratulations on your success!

But not able to appreciate your using your brother like Laika, as it looks like he has no access to the controls, and that it's being flown remotely by someone else...

@ Sahevaan

Fruits of perseverance, bro! Hats-off to you and your team!  {:)}  :hatsoff:

@ K K Iyer

Sir, I know it seems risky, but consider the following points:

1] His brother most probably did not have any prior experience piloting a VTOL 'aircraft'.
2] He must have had some experience flying the Octa with payloads weighing about the same as his brother.

I saw a documentary the other day about attempts and first successful flights of manned crafts, and they looked a lot more dangerous and riskier.

I am not saying people should take risks like this. Just that, people like us, particularly the young 'uns, simply wave risks aside.

The flight looks really good. Hats off :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Hope I would have been there for flight to watch it close.
The stability of octocopter is magnificient.

Hey, very big congratulations to you guys!!

You were too quick with the build and maiden was awesome.

Good luck!

Sahevaan

Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement!

To answer your questions about why I chose to risk my brothers life and make him the test pilot, the answer is in the question itself. We are so confident about our engineering and design that I was confident enough to put my brother on it, and so were my parents.

We tested the octocopter for over 3 months and performed various static and dynamic load tests, and even a crash test, destroying 2 propellers in the process and we were certain that the person sitting in the center would not be injured, if at all he/she would have suffered only minor scratches.

@sahevaan,
Good to hear of the precautions taken and your parents' consent.
Best wishes for future progress.
Regards.
