I have read that ESCs with BEC eliminate the need of battery for receiver.
Now I want to use a separate battery for Receiver and still use an ESC with BEC.
Is it possible to do that?
If yes, how?

you can use this easily.
1.  if u have one spare channel on your receiver connect your battery there, cut the centre wire of the bec and throttle cable coming from the esc . or use a servo extension cable and cut the wire there.
2.  if u don't have an extra channel attach a y servo splitter and on one end connect your battery and on the other your esc, but cut the centre wire of the cable coming from the esc . or use a servo extension cable and cut the wire there.

If I may ask....Why do you not want to use the BEC?

Just curious :)

Also is it the BEC that powers the servos?
And if i plan to eliminate the BEC how do i select the battery for Rx and servos?

maahinberi

Receivers usually work between 4.8 to 6v, which work out to be a 4s or 5s NiCd or NiMh battery pack

Nowadays many receivers are also rated for higher voltage allowing you to use a 2s LiPO or LiFePO4 Pack without a voltage reducer.
