Title: Pooling up to buy Dremel 300
Post by: flying doc on May 04, 2011, 11:08:34 PM
Ok Guys, Here is some more info about the Dremel that I learnt today.
It is better to buy the tool here in India. Why??
Cost from Amazon - $64 =  :Rs: 3072/- approx
Add to it someone willing to get it for u
Consider that the tool would run on 110 volts
U'd have to buy a 220 to 110 converter. Now this is something I learnt today. No power tool or motor will run with an electronic converter and it needs a transformer based converter. Dremel is rated at 125 watts. Transformer based converters come in the rating of 65, 100, 250 and 500 watts.
A 250 Watt converter costs about :Rs: 800/-
Effectively putting the cost price at about 3900/- and add to it the hassel of getting the converter and if theres a problem then fighting with the local guys for warrenty.

Now for the good news. Through my journey of looking for a dealer of Dremel I came to know a gentleman who would be willing to sell the Dremel 300 with 25 accessories for a sum between :Rs: 4500 and 4700/- (Still to be finalized as it would depend on the number of people willing to buy). He went to the extent of saying that if the number was upwards of 50 this price would be lower. I have also requested him to get me the best price for the cutting wheels and such spares that we often use. This is a genuine Dremel with the bosch warrenty all over India. He is also willing to Ship it to any place in the country at actuals.
Pls let me know as to how many people would like to be the proud owners of a Dremel 300. The more the cheaper it would be.

The Bosch dealer, the member here named "Dremel", has also proposed a special price for Dremel 300 if at least 10 are sold.

Guys my post in the dremel thread might create confusions and hence this thread.

Interested members wanting to buy a Dremel 300 at a price between 4500 and 4700, may pls add their names to this thread so that I may be able to get the best possible deal from the dealer here. I'm not sure what would be the difference in price between this deal and the one being given by "Dremel". Whichever is better would be the one to go for.

Why I posted a new thread was because of the dremel prize that anwar is talking about. I would also be interested in getting a dremel in the sweepstakes but the post was for people who would not be so lucky and would want to buy a dremel. Pls confirm if my thinking is right.

Sandeep, we are only gauging interest, not a commitment to buy.  So it is good to see that you are interested, depending on price.

I got in touch with the dealer here to get a good price 'cos I thought u were in touch with "Dremel" to give a dremel for the sweepstakes. So I went and talked the dealer here into giving me a price much lower than the MRP. If Manisha does not come up with a lower price then the dealer here would be able to give the 300 for anywhere between 4500 and 4700 with actual shipping.

Nope. It is just the dremel 300 220 volts with a 25 piece accessory set. I have talked to him about spare cutting wheels etc and he said that he would get a price quote when the demand arises.

Update... as Anam is selling the same at really attractive prices, Manisha/Dremel will not be offering a deal on Dremels.  Anam also seems to have a very nice shipping charge, which was another concern.

Hi manisha,
As per the experience in my selling of Dremel tools (I have sold about 70 plus pieces of Dremel 300 tool on ebay), But the the support for Dremel products from Bosch is not up to the mark. I even can not Get the carbon brush for Dremel 300, then how could we provide a good service to the users. Bosch should stock all spares and accessories to provide a better after sales service to the dremel users.
