BTW I use wooden block with 2mm/3.5mm/4mm holes and a "Hand-free item holder Tool" (below link )do these things better them. Would share vid some time.

I have the same thing (came as a part of the basic soldering equipment set), but they are still a bit clumsy to use, compared to this.
Before, that I rigged up couple of memo holders like these (got them at some professional conference as advertisement from some manufacturer) :

The wise does not allow you to solder two wires like this (unless you have two of them close to each other ? The soldering arms will work, at the small hassle of keeping the aligned.
And yes, this thing should not cost more than $2 (when a Jackly 36 piece screw driver set is only Rs100) !!!

Shipping expensive. I got it coz I had 3 KG parcel full of tools coming my way from HK and the shipping got cheaper.
Note that soldering 2 wires using a soldering arm is also a hassle. I usually put 1 wire on the wise hold another in my hand and use the other hand to solder.
