Hello RC-India,

I was just an avid lurker here on forums since my childhood, but the cost of RC at that time made a no-no option for me.

now i am having an Start-up based out of Bangalore with big goals  to make a set of desktop fabrication tools for Makers.

Developing an low cost DIY CNC Router with below planned specifications-

  • Footprint - 540mm x 510mm
  • Cutting area - 300mm x 300mm x 54mm
  • Nema - 17/23 Stepper Motor
  • Stepper driver - Custom Designed Open-source Stepper driver (1/16) (1/32)
  • Starter Spindle choice is Dremel clone
  • Steel and Aluminum Profile design

The design can also be Expanded into 1000mm x 1000mm

and it will be Open-Source Design so all are welcomed to give your suggestions.
(The said above machine is getting ready for prototyping will post images once its ready)

Always great to see open source hardware! Best of luck!!
It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic,
Of all things physical and metaphysical,
Of all things human and all things super-human,
Of all true manifestations of the head,
Of the heart, of the soul,
That the life is recognizable in its expression,
That form ever follows function. This is the law.

Hi zippy's

Best of luck on your project,  how is your project taking place
Like to know where you sourcing Nema stepper motors and
I suggest go in for several open source driver already available
in market which was tried and tested and bug free .

Since you developing this project for commercial use, you
can focus your time on other things .

Also love to know about the aluminium profiles you are planning
to incorporate .

Are you planning to use solid aluminium or profiles

All the best

Hello Udnan,

sorry for long silence, have been working on a DIY opensource 3D Printer

www.creatorbot.com

the CNC is almost ready but under heavy testing past 6o days. will post more details also soon.

Cheers,
Varun

Hello Trchmuffins,

thanks for your kind words. the controller is based on opensource GRBL firmware and have seen and used many commercial versions but the cost was a issue.

and we have a small team working on free software for using with CNC so the hardware should even work with software.

Does CNC has any uses for Aero Modelling? have been trying to find use cases.

*Nema Motors are custom made high quality Nema 17 and 23
* the Aluminum profiles are again made in India by us  for example check out a 3D printer designed by us using it. its called as V-Slot.

much details will post here may be a picture too. :-)

Cheers,
Varun

Hello Avadhut10001, this is based on OpenBuilds and not Makerslide. design is smiler to Shapeoko 2.

zippys123

Hello rcrcnitesh, Yup the Shapeoko is available from 3dprintronics. but this is based on Openbuilds and designed from scratch and produced right here in Bangalore.

Still lots of testing going on the prototype. attached pic of the same :-)

Design based on Shapeoko is a sturdy one. I had almost decided to buy one.

Performance of yours and comparable cost factor is to be seen.

Subscribed.

zippys123

Hello sundaram,

Thanks for subscribing  :) , the price is not yet decided but it may be around 39-40k in kitform. it comes with a dremel clone kit and many more features. little busy on our 3d-printer launch, will post more details soon.
