there are no amphs specified on mine . here is the info. slip of the adapter:
1.5 V. to 12 V.
Input 220 V AC.
OUTPUT CURRENT -500MA
MODEL no. HE AD 6602
and the there are two know to control voltage from 1.5v to 12v
and a polarity knob to select between +polarity and - polarity

i think ma is something related to amphs

I don't think so. The wires length should be decreased or the width should be increased for it to work.
What charger do you have.

500mA is too little. Go get yourself a nice big transformer like I did. You can pull them out of old electronics. Go to some scrap electronics place and get it cheap.

Just use all the stuff I used.  Its tried and tested.  Multiple people have used my cutter since.

I think you have the good old switchable power-supply from the 90's ;D

mA is definitely the Current rating, ie., milli Amp(s) or Ampere(s) (not Amphs)

I am not very sure, if half Amp is sufficient to achieve the required heat to make a hot-wire cutter. Try a higher current rated p/s.

is there any transformer available online?????
will this work i ll add a electric extension from the ac plug to the plug of the adapter and add a regulator in between.
would this work???

What charger do you have? If it's an b6 you can flash it with an open source firmware and use the hot wire functionality.

Wouldnt dc 12 volt and 2 amph work??

girishsarwal

Prabal you can also use a lead acid battery 12v, the one that goes in a ups or a bike. Ample of amperes for the job. If you have a b6 type charger, it can easily charge your battery

PS: most advertised 12v 2A like that used by WiFi routers would stall and not provide enough juice for the work.

this will not work as it has a short circuit protection / overload protection.

You will have to disable the protection to short via Nichrome wire.

prabal276

So cant i disabe it somehow or order one of the adapters mentioned above

rcrcnitesh

Get a 12v 5a adapter. It will be useful when you upgrade your charger.
