Hey guys, what would you people recommend for use a hex DRIVER(the screwdriver/t-shaped handle) or then standard l shaped allen key for all purposes including helicopter assembly.
I have been getting may contradictory answers.. So pls help me out
It will be L shaped allen key
both will do - the hex screw driver will be a bit easier
than the allen key - what is important is the quality - metallurgy
and precision/fit.
I have for years buying allen keys chopping them off in 1/2" lengths and brazing
them to old screw driver shafts - that way you can make 3/4 hex screwdrivers
with one allen key.
also when the tip gets rounded - just grind off 1 - 2 mm and viola
as good as new.
How do you braze them?
you will not be able to do it
- take it to a garage which does bodywork
for cars and buses. - ask for gas welding.
I have access to a fully equipped workshop
so no problem for me.
Ohh!! Gas welding is no big deal, there are dozens of shops near my house.... :p
That is a seriously good idea.... Cheap and efficient.... JUGAAD at its best @saikat
Saikat sir, brazing the allen key heats it.
So, doesnt it alter the property of allen-key material.?. :banghead: :banghead:
I think this is the reason why your tip gets round..
Could be... , you can always use the tips clamped in a pin vise . No heating involved.
Hex drivers make life very easy. I'm speaking from my experience with cars. When you need to take 4 screws off with those tiny allen keys, it's a chore. With a hex driver, it's a dream. And when you're doing a complete build/assembly/reassembly, the hex driver will cut down on time used and will not make you want to cut your fingers off.....
Where do i get a decent hex driver set?
And do i go for t handle or just normal hex drivers??
for you - go to spencers I got a ten set for rs 190 yesterday
made by stanley - metric size from 1.5mm to 10 mm
i am talking allen keys - for hex drivers check out the numerous
online lhs - rchobbyaddict have a good set - but expensive
What about stanley t handle hex drivers?? I have the stanley allen key set... I am not really fond of it
There was this big discussion about hex drivers earlier :
