i think you can get this gear ready made at market in front of redfort delhi

even i want to know any idea friends... need some custom gears badly..

if its possible it will be great..

that kind of clay is available or using soap will be perfect..

It is very tough not so easy to cast... better to buy new one....costing in casting would be more than the new one.

U can try window putty; press the existing gear into it to make a mould. Then, use Araldite to cast. Let us know the result!

arun.sreelakam

will araldite do the job.. is it stiff enough? to withstand the high rpm..?
i am thinking of using plastic crystals(by melting it)..

ask your dentist for 2 component acrylic

anoop218

@sanjay tried your method of putty but the profile of the gear does not get good definition on putty. araldite is not stiff as plastic , and its too viscous to get poured to build teeth of the gear perfectly.
can't i get replacement of these materials in india.
where do i look for ready made gear in delhi ,any shop in particular.

anoop we can use modelling clay for moulds will work perfectly.. the main problem is the filling.. will melted plastic cristals work? anyway i am going to try it this week... as i am not a metro guy, no other options for me :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Try the dentist 2 part acrylic. sets very fast though!

Araldite's viscosity can be reduced by thinner.

Again, for a mould material, ask a dentist. They use a compound that mix with water for takling (accurate) dental impressions

yea even i done a rootcanal and i remember that thing which sets real quick time... will enquire about that and post here..:p

But I have heard that recently mix is not used insted UV is used for hardening (In Smile & Profile, Kolkata), So, no hurry till accurate in mould.

However, if you need really strong gear and in cheap, ask mearest Lathe Shop for making gear from Teflon Rod. or Aluminium.

In HP5510 AIO, some gear breakes very frequently and needs replacement. So, I have made some Aluminium gear from lathe. But finally some sanding required for final placement.

All need more time, cost but custom gear and very hard.

However, brass gears are much better as they are used inside automatic door opener. So, you have to explore some Lock/key shop too. Some Photocopier machine, Laserjet toner gear may work and available at e-dumping ground. Good Luck.
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

i like the lathe idea :o... we will get our own custom gears.. but will they make it for us..? :headscratch: :headscratch:
i dont think they will spent time for our little gears..  :banghead: :banghead:

the best thing in this case can be to get hold of a college student ( specially mech) ans ask him to get it done from his college.... they have all complex lathe, milling and CNC machines.

i suppose "alokhowercraft" on the forum used to get custom gears done... he may be the right person to get with..!

also casting gears from dental cement o arildite will a much tedious task, as getting the mould right is a pain...

well i have made gears by this method myself.
you need plaster of paris and disposable water bottles. make cast with plaster of paris and then melt plastic bottles, it melts easily. after it cools down it became tough. do try. I am planning a new gear box i will MAKE a video of gear making or a tutorial soon.

arun.sreelakam

Is it hard enough to withstand enough load...?
can you please post some pics of the same you made...
It would be very helpfull...  :salute:
