Oh man!!... never knew that dogs like to chew coro!!... May be you made a yummy airplane!!... ;D ;D ;D

Yes balsa can also be used in place of coro... Its funny that you are using balsa as an alternate for coro... Normally ppl think coro as an alternate to balsa.. Anyway, either way it should work.

go for a ad board hunt ;) most of the ad board are made by coro which u can find it often hanging on electric and telephone posts :)

Sahevaan

hey ,
@ akash - its often that those boards are bent or out of shape and also the thickness req. 4-6mm , but all mainly of 3mm .
aparently these boards hanging are of wrong direction of flutes also!
@ ismail - I was on my laptop and wasnt paying much attention to dog(s) , they got angry and tore away the tail .
what thickness of balsa can be used?? also do you get balsa in a big board ??
I have enough coro to make a 2peice tail with flutes runing in corect direction , will a 2peice tail be strong
enough?? how should i make a Y conector from piano wire??

Hi Sahevaan,

Yes you can use two peices of coro for your tail assembly. You can join both the coro peices with a thin 3mm coro on either side of the joint. Use thin CA to stick them together.. flush the coro over the entire contacting surface. If you do not like the idea of the 3mm coro sticking out of the surface, then you can glue the normal 5mm coro peice on either side of the joint. You can then carefully slit/skin the coro such that only the thin surface that is glued remains... I have used both the methods in many of my build. The second method is very rigid.

But note that this should be done only if you are running short of coro... or else you would increase weight of the model without any purpose.

hey ismail ,
i didnt really understand the second method!

Izmile,

Nice description, But if you could put a schematic of the process then it would have been a best reply.  ;D

izmile

Well, if you could understand the first method, the second method is also the same. Instead of 3mm coro you use a 5mm coro. Once you glue it in place, you ll have to shave off the coro sticking outside using a hobby knife. I will try to get a schematic of that but I doubt as I do not have the drawing tools over here. Let me know if you still need a schematic?
