Hi
Try using sparingly a WBPU (water based polyurethane) it should be available at a hardware shop. Gives a nice glossy look to foam.

Hi,
Is it possible to glass the foam(thermacole) with fiber glass using the easily available araldite resin and hardner.

Yes it possible, you have to be carefull not to add too much epoxy (Araldite to you) and not too less either

Subbu, buy laminated Depron. They are quite shiny and smooth. for achieving same with WBPU or Dope kind of thing, you need clean room, and may even need to spray as you cannot not sand Depron to a finish you can get with Balsa before you apply dope..

Why dont you use packing tape? the brown color 2" one? I used it on my Predator and it looks good and still keeps your plane light!
Believe me when I say this, My predator is 60" wing tip to wing tip and made entirely from foam board and and the nose is depron. Taped the entire thing using this tape, and the weight ??
320gms without electronics!

@ VKsingh you cant use normal araldite for fiberglass as there very brittle and have high viscosity ,
secondly you can use normal araldite which is used for same purpose which is Araldite Y5052 you will get both hardner and resin in correct propotion ,here in bangalore availble but not in small quantity ,its only available in 50kg tin costing around Rs 2 lakh,if you able to find this epoxy in small quantity let me know,
secondly you will not get smooth finish on wing but using high kg/cm2 fiber glass  you will get more strength ,flexible durable than balsa!

@controlflyer nice build  ! why can't you use colorful tape available in market it will look more beautiful!

To increase thrust you need more  money! But to reduce weight you  need nothing!

controlflyer

thanks Praveen! I actually have now painted the entire fuselage using Matt Camo acrylic paint, the plane is drying as I type, I am thinking of giving her a desert camo look!! Lets see what happens.

I have used normal araldit eto laminate and mould with glass and apart from the issue of it being thick there are no other issues. Opposite to what you say, Araldite would turn rubbery with age and not brittle.
Just my two bits

Is that fuel proof as well or good for foam/electrics only ?
And is this availble in India?

I really did not understand what you meant by fuelproof, but it is a acrylic paint, can also be mixed with water and if painted on plastics without sanding them, the paint peels off like a sticker.
And about its availability, I suppose you may find it at stationary shops dealing in imported goods.
This one is "Made in France"
I really cannot give you more info boxer, this is all I can see on the 45ml bottle. I I suppose this is like those Fericyl fabric colors, but this one smells like poo..

What I meant was would it withstand Glow fuel? Especially nitro? Many paints do not and deteriorate when exposed to glow fuel and nitro

All acrylic paints that I have used have been fuel proof. Ditto with enamel paints. Nitro Cellulose ("Duco") isn't. It softens and becomes a mess.

The "BOSNY" brand of paint - comes in an amazing range of colours, in spray cans - works well.
