Guys,
Back home, I wanted to organize my workshop a bit, by making the frequently used tools more accessable. I wanted to know if pegboards are available in India ? and if so, where ?

eg http://www.garageretreat.com/articles/Pictures/picture01-pegboard.jpg
( i do not have that many tools though ! )

If not, then any suggestions on a DIY way to to make the handy tools easily accessible  ?

I am not sure if you going to get in small town like Allahabad (as I belong to a similar one down the the ganges). But you can still try:

1. Take a photo of the board and visit your local market where they sell Plywood, Particle Board, Laminates etc for Cupboard/Shop showcase etc.

2. Visit your local Tool and machinery market and see if some shop has a similar show case of tools (Pegboard behind glass, with tools hanging on them). I have surely seen them here in Bangalore Tools mkt in SP Road, but thats not a fair comparison.

You can try your luck starting here http://www.alibaba.com/countrysearch/IN/peg-board.html  and then googling the individual companies :)

Thanks Anwar, Ujjwana,

Getting back home and viewing the cluttered desk made me feel it was time to re-organize things.
I will update here on what I find locally

I am sure you will find something in local modular kitchen furniture stores. This is one of the elements of stylish kitchen design these days.

You definitely get these locally, but not made of wood, I think some wood composite or asbestos. Those white ones you see in most Bata shoe shops.

Check your local "yellow pages" for someone who stocks acoustic insulation material. You will get this in 60 cm x 60 cm tiles.

Ashta bhai  - What have you used to hang individual tools like pliers ?  Just nails/screws ?

I thought  the original thread was about availability of pegboards. They ARE commonly available as stated.

There is also a DIY part to the question (even though it begins with an "if not") ;)

What is the common name for the pegboards in India? I too want to arrange my stuff, pain to search for tool when you badly need it.
