Few days back I had been to Kolkata and managed to meet some of my old friends & relatives there. One of them is my cousin brother Col. A. Maharana. He is about 10 years older than me and he is the same person who made me a "Meccano mania" at the age of 8 by presenting me a "Meccano kit" at that time.

He is avid electronic hobbyist and a good photographer also. But this time I got surprised to see his mini tool room, all equipped with mechanical stuffs. Mini Lathe, drill m/c, hand cutter, grinders etc. Recently he got transferred to Secunderabad and almost everything got packed. I was not so lucky to witness all his machines & tools & able to take some photographs which I would love to share. There in Kolkata he is helping his aeromodeller friends with his hand build motor mounts, servo connectors, links etc.

When he asked me something useful, with no time I asked him this lathe machine and he gave me this one very happily.

The way he keeps his machines & tools- very clean & accessible.

I have installed the lathe in my tool room. Adjusted and fine tuned the tool post, tailstock etc. Did lot of turning, boring etc.  Bit of maintenance is required. Don't want paint it right now.
Yesterday tried to make a nozzle with 1 mm drill. Came up finely.

These lathes won't occupy much space though. But to convince them, we should help & repair utensils, like pressure cooker lock, frying pan handle etc., and also promise them that one day we will make nice bangles out of these lathes.

In this thread I will try to upload some hand made tools, tips & tricks. Today I made a grooved roller/squeezer to carry fiberglass work. This roller is very much useful in making F.G. Mainly used to remove air bubbles and to spread F.G evenly over the surface. With ordinary plane roller, layer of F.G will stick to it and always difficult rub the wet F.G surface. For this I have used a nylon handle.

I want to make a small hand grinder with 400 size brushed motor. It can be powered with 2s/3s lipo or direct from Adaptor. So is it safe to connect lipo directly to the motor with normal switch or any filter circuit / driver circuit is available to safeguard the motor ?
