Hi all
As far as i know..you can use normal CA (not necessarily foam safe) as well as epoxy on EPO.
Regards
Ankur
Bala on this forum recently used the normal CA to fix the nose and Motor Pod of his Easy*. ELAPOR Rocks!!
Get Fevi kwik 702 if you can http://waamall.in/Product38819793-b8a4-4ade-b7fa-0ef378a2f877.aspx
other wise you can always use Fevi kwik 203 http://waamall.in/Productf4598448-96ad-4ad1-8e92-cc2ab26bbc9f.aspx
Edit: Corrected second link.
Awesome site dude, it has all the glues and screws and thread-locks we require in the hobby.
Some nice threads..

THANK YOU Atul & SunLikeStar (I am shouting intentionally), I kept my acromaster aside, with a fear of glue malfunction, Another True Forum Hero :goodjob:
PS
It is a different issue, as I still can't fly it, waiting for Power Pack and Servo Pack
No problem at all. Although it has come to my notice that some of the links are not working :D
I will search for more and post, as and when I get them.

Please do not you epoxy as it does not bond the elapor but on the long run hardens and creates a layer where in you can peel it out.
That is interesting... wonder if it depends on the type of epoxy.
So all it takes is just about any CA (foam safe or not) ?
Quote from: Sanjeev Shah on January 26, 2011, 10:09:48 AM
Super Glue is also called cyno & in India we have brands like fevi kwik, locktite and metlock etc.
Get a medium viscosity one. Please do not you epoxy as it does not bond the elapor but on the long run hardens and creates a layer where in you can peel it out.
Are these brands FOAM SAFE? because in my understanding CA is not safe for foams. it burns right through them.
Atul, is there a Emoticon for expressing gratitude other than for this :salute: like  thanks a lot for this link, will be of gr8 help.
lol. In btwn am married :P
No problem Augustinev. Will try my level best to give you more links..
Cheers..Take it easy..
I have two acrylic spray cans and i am itching to paint my easy. Atul you painted your last easy right? Any tips and suggestions about that?
Well not that I can think off.. Just spray away..

And for new easystar owners who are afraid that they might mess up while joining the two half's. Dry fit the two half's together and hold it with some tape, now just run some thin CA on the seams. Thin CA like Fevi kwik 203 automatically runs into seems and forms a bond. You cant go wrong with this method
i tryed the CA 203 (fevi kwik) on thermocol. it made hole in the thermocol :headscratch: :headscratch:
Try Fewi-Kwik 702. That works..

My easystar with a shiny new paint job and a modded coro elevator :)
a friend had 1 and on that 1 we cut the ends off the wings and put ailerons flaps on the wings and cut in a flat carbon strip in the wing and a total overkill motor
it flew pretty good and fast for a while until the wings folded up in flight
Good Stuff Amit..
Catch you on field..
i got fevi kwik 702 today :)
now what is accelerator ? :headscratch:
Great website..

Recently discovered an awesome trick to repair easystar. If you want to glue to two surfaces, soak a cotton ball in water and wipe the two surfaces, while the surfaces are wet apply CA as you normally do and press the two surfaces together for 10~20 seconds. Blow away any excess water/CA oozing out of the joint. Thats it, if you align the surfaces properly, you'll have a seamless and strong join as if it was never broken. Don't use tooth picks if you are doing this because it is very difficult to align the joint with toothpicks between them and you wont have that much time with this. Anyways the joints are strong enough without toothpicks.
Please do this in a ventilated area as the reaction results in some nasty fumes. The reaction is exothermic and may heat up the joint a little, but its not a problem.
Also note that i have only tried this with fevikwik 203.
Shiny paint makes Easy star look a Sun-like-star.
Thanks for the Link Atul_PG
That's a good idea, Cyanoacrylate always sets faster in presence of moisture, It's a good idea to spray some water on surfaces for faster and better results. This will also avoid exothermic reaction by the glue. I have read some where else on this forum, one Rcer has used refrigerated Cyanoacrylate to stick Foam without getting burns.
Another interesting fact about Cyanoacrylate, Octyl Cyanoacrylates are also used in bonding skin and different Medical applications.
I used FEVIFIX all purpose adhesive from the makers of fevicol which is just like QUICKFIX adhesive and it worked great on my Easystar. It came in 8m.l, tubes and cost is Rs. 7-00, per tube. It is not CA but looks like Medium viscosity CA and cures in approximately in 10 minutes . The bond is rock solid when cured. I used it on all surfaces of the Easystar. Applied a thin layer of the glue on both fuselage halves and joined together and secured with rubber bands till the glue cures. Used normal CA to attach the control horns and pushrod outer tubes.

Dear Mr Rao
Is this Quikfix the glue on which it used to be written and may still be "Joins everything except broken hearts" ?
Jitender
Jitender, yes the quickfix is same - "Joins everything except broken hearts" difficult to find but yes still available.
P.S. Wish some one came up with a glue to join broken hearts
I am planning to use araldite clear..
In the instruction manual it was clearly mentioned to not use epoxy glue or white glue.
I used this one for a FunJet. It is medium viscosity, gap filling and sets in about 15 to 20 seconds so there is no real need for kicker/accelerator !

(Hard/how?) contact any Airtel/BSNL OFC cable (Fiber optic) repair technician as ask for the support tube packed along with the OFC Cables. The have a 1-2mm hole and are much better than what MPX provides, slightly heavy too.
I am not able to locate anyone who works with OFC. Any other idea ???
No BSNL or Reliance folks around ? Why not just walk into an exchange and ask :)
If you get in touch with serious data networking guys (people who setup server data centers), they should also have stuff like this.
I just asked the network admin at my work place and the airtel technician who takes care of my data connection at home. Both had no idea what i was talking about. Will wist the BSNL exchange tomorrow.
Hello friends...I had glued the emax motor in my easy star
Now that motor is giving some problem and I need to replace the motor..I am just wondering how to do it :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:
Please guys help me out :help: :help: :help:
Which EMAX motor were you using?

I had glued the emax motor in my easy star, Now that motor is giving some problem and I need to replace the motor..
Have you applied tape or shrink wrap on the motor before gluing in. If yes then it should be easy to get it out using a paper cutter.
@rajath: I am using Emax motor which just fits into easy star. Dont remember the number.
@SLS: It has been glued with CA and there is no tape or shrink wrap on the motor. What can be done now?? Can I remove the motor by putting it in hot water..Plz help I dont want to loose my easy star just becuase of motor problem.
Don't worry about loosing it, the only way to loose it is to crash it somewhere and then not be able to find :)
I'm not sure about using hot water, but you can do one of the two:
Second is that you can apply few drops of acetone on the joint to loosen it and pull the motor out.
Simply cut the motor out of foam using the smallest (thinnest) paper blade you can find. Push the blade between motor and slowly start cutting along the motor can making sure you don't lose lots of foam.
SLS thanks a lot of the suggestions :hatsoff:, I am going to try in the following order:
1 - Try with glue remover (acetone). Can you please tell where to find it? Can we find in any shop?
2 - Try hot water if it works.
3 - Cutting the motor out of foam..But seriously I dont want to go this solution :banghead: :banghead:
I have never used acetone. But i'm sure you'll find in cosmetic shop, it is used as nail-polish remover.
Believe it or not cutting the motor out is the easiest.
Hot water thing I wont recommend if you are new to electrics. Plus I am not sure if it would work, but if you decide to do it make sure you remove all other electronics from the plane.
So finally today..I could remove the completely and tightly glued motor from my easystar model using paint remover. It worked great..thanks for the help
:goodjob:
make sure you cover your next motor with tape or shrink wrap before gluing it in
awesome dinesh. good work ;D finally you can fly your easystar over the weekend.
So asking again,
Is it Zacki Elapor or CA or fevi quick?
Which is the best?
If there are any other suggestions I'm willing to accept them.
??? ??? ???
:headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:
i also want good glue for repairing easy star kindly advise me also about glue

Use Fevifix
Quote from: Rao on September 20, 2017, 12:15:33 AM
Use Fevifix
I've heard feviquick burns through elapor.
Not Fevikwik.
FEVIFIX
Also Fevikwik doesn't eat the elapor foam. Only regular fevikwik cures too fast and Fevifix cures in about 20 to 30 minutes. On surfaces of both fuselage halves use Fevifix and tape them together for about 30 minutes. And later you can seal the seams at the joint line with fevikwik if you want. For small parts you can use fevikwik
mr rao is absolutely correct ... this is what seperates multiplex models from rest of the herd
Guys you can try vetra which is available in numerous hardware store you can get 20 gram for 60 rs, it works similar to feviquick but take atleast one minute for proper strength always be sure while using, it works very good on foam models like Easy star and skysurfer. Please do not use it on scratch build model made of biofoam or foamboard, it eats that foam...Pic attached. Use properly sensitive to air. dries if cap left open.
i am using fevitite 5 minutes epoxy is it advisable to use fevitite to repair easystarII
kp
Thanks a lot.😀👍
Never use epoxy on Elapor foam.
Will silicon glue work?
Asking because silicon glue is more easily available in my locality than the others.
Don't think silicon Glue works. Fevifix is same as Quikfix. Also you can find similar glues by different brand names. You can also use fevikwik Gel. It is slow curing.
Thanks Rao sir
U have recommend Quickfix or fevifix or fevikwik for Elapor foam made skysurer or easy star
Now recommend adhesive for balsa plane
kp
Is BondFix the same?
Have it at home.

You can use a lot of adhesives for balsa planes. Depending on the bond strength. Thin CA and Medium CA for quick bonds. 5 minute and 30 minute Epoxy for strong and Extra Strong Bonds. I love building balsa planes and these are the only glues I ever needed.

Bonfix or Bondfix ?. Bonfix is rubber based glue and won't work on foam. I don't know about Bondfix.
BondFix. It's gel-based. I think it's the same as QuickFix.
When I made my balsa plane I used QuickFix or fevifix. Worked perfectly well.
The plane I built was 'Guillows Javelin'.
Before CA glues appeared Quickfix type glue was the only fast curing glue extensively used in balsa plane building. And for firewalls etc where strong bonds are required epoxy was used. Quickfix is not strong enough for those bonds.
However, I'd say that balsa cement is by far the best adhesive for balsa.
Anyways, good luck for your plane.
By the way, which one is it?

Conventional glues worked fine, including on "diesel" engine powered models (Ether/Kerosene/Castor) It was only with the advent of Glow Engines that their use was discontinued with all parts that could come in contact with fuel. Methanol dissolved the glue
