Hello!

was searching the forum and couldn't find any set-up for checking thrust. so decided to build one..

Materials:

Aluminium 'U' Channel - Used in shelves as guide-ways for glasses- found in Plywood and Glass shops
6 mm Plywood
'L' clamp - 2 Nos.
Nuts and Bolts

Cut 2 equal lengths of Aluminium 'U' Channel.

Cut 2 No. right angle triangle using 6 mm Plywood.

Leave out a 1 inch x 1 inch square at the bottom of the ply wood, Drill holes to attach the Aluminium channel to the ply wood.

Mark the centre of the 1 inch square and drill a hole of suitable size this will be the pivot point of the meter.

Take 2 No. 'L' Clamp and screw it to a hard base here it is a 20mm Ply wood. make sure the the holes on the vertical strip is in the same line.

Take a smaller square 6mm Plywood to make the motor mount. drill holes to allow the shaft to pass and make necessary holes for the mounting screws.

Take a long Nut and bolt and pass it through and the wood and the vertical strips of the 'L' Clamp. Make sure that the bolt does not restrict and motion of the arm.

Keep and lower arm on the weight scale, hang a standard weight on the motor mount and check if it show the same reading on the weight scale.

and one more thing! the base in the last pic was found to be interfering with the arm, so i had to saw it off to make it move freely, u can attach 2 or 3 erasers on the arm which will come under contact with the weighing scale.

Dont hang the weight to calibrate! it will give an error! this is designed to be pushed horizontally and not to be hung vertically down!
