Could not find my "Z" bender last evening, while working on a newbie's Piper Cub. An "eureka" moment occurred to me. Check the pics. They are self explanatory. Sorry, the first pics were via the cell phone in low light. The "finished" pic. is clear, in more ways than one!

Almost. I find no reason to to "straighten out" the bend and make it a proper "z". It can be left as in my picture as the seond bend is just to prevent it from slipping off the servo horn. Also, with thicker or harder wire, the vice becomes necessary, and the wire can be hammered to a right angle.
And, believe it or don't, the idea DID occur on the spur of the moment!
The link in that thread also shows the bend as not "straightened out". This is a much simpler method, for sure (except for getting those plastic "clip-on locking" things of the right dia in bulk from someplace like HK).
Susheel,
One more whack with a hammer on the side of the vice (the second picture) would have rsulted in the wire being formed into a classic Z bend.
And btw you should not be drinking while working with tools ;D :giggle:
The final picture has been taken after the whacks and before the alcohol!
But I could spy a bottle under the table on which the vice is mounted
