Hello all,

My name is Rohin Gopalakrishnan and I am new to drones and flying and I had taken up a course in my university entititled 'drone computing'.

As a final project we would be required to do some vision/AI related tasks with this drone. So my drone requirement is as follows -

450/500 frame size
Pixhawk w/ GPS and Telemetry 433
RC
On board camera and transmitter to base station.
+ anything  else I may need for a stable drone (motor, esc, etc)

Since I'm new to this idk the exact specifications needed to build such a drone and since my course is on drone 'computing' we are not taught the specifics. I have done some preliminary research on drones and these were the must needed parts for me to make it fly autonomously with telemetry via dronekit.

Our budget for this drone is around 40-50k. Our only requirement for the drone is that it needs to be very stable in average wind conditions and should have a camera.

There are about 2-3 teams. So which means that I would need a total of 3 drone with similar specs.

Any supplier/hobbyists willing to help us out do shoot an email to or reply in this thread.

Also an important note is that the drone should be with me and assembled within 30 days, since I have to pass the course after that 😂

Sorry about the long post and thanks for reading!

Happy flying :)

You can get quads at very low price these days. It can be equipped with camera or whatever of your choice. For vision related stuff you need to rely on external development boards or SOC such as raspberry pi, odroid UX4 etc. There are plenty of linux development boards available.
You can use FlytOS with these SOCs

Rohit from Bangalore engaged in drone development using SOC. You can reach him and if he can assist you. I PMed you his number.

The post was not long. Honestly, you really sound like a newbie to this field, indeed taking the course. I urge you to spend a lot of time researching. It's not a big deal to assemble a quad, like you've mentioned. If you're to encounter a specific problem, then reach out to the forum.

Anyways, PM me.

Hey! Thanks for your replies. Do you guys by any chance know of some kits/suppliers where I can get such a kit - http://www.quadkopters.com/product/arf-kit-rtf-kit-and-frames/s500x-arf-kit-with-apm2-6/
1. With a pixhawk+telemetry instead of apm

This is exactly what I need to get started. I can source the other parts myself like camera, receiver and transmitter.

Any help is again appreciated! :)

I think you should look elsewhere. The Robokits price is insane and you can get it for much cheaper if you know all the right places to buy it from. PM me. Also, try getting a quality pixhawk controller like the CUAV Pixhack or the #DR Pixhawk mini or Pixhawk 2.1 or mRo Pixhawk 2.1 etc.
