I don't think there is anything wrong, it must just be that your motors draw less current and are more efficient.. My WolfPack 2200mAh gave me around 4 minutes with a 1.2 kg quad (approx. including battery). However, it could not handle the discharge and is now just lying there damaged. My Wild Scorpion 3500 mAh gives around 7 minutes following the 80% rule.

parichya.gautam

ok... well i too didnt do any rigorous flying, basic hovering and and stuff...

whats the 80% rule ???

The 80% rule says that you should not have to put back more than 80% of the battery's capacity while charging. Your IMAX B6 will tell you how many mAh it put into the battery after charging. Thus, for a 2200 mAh LiPo, this should not be more than 80% of 2200= 1760 mAh. This gives the most cycles from the battery. This translates to around 3.7V per cell minimum for me.

subhashjk0508

the 80% rule is you dont use all your 2200mah, you use max 80% for lipo safety!!
and i know a guy offering 8000mah battery for 3000rs, but the battery is 70 flights old, acttually it is 2x4000mah!!and the brand is haiyin!!

JK

parichya.gautam

ok .. but i need flight time so i charge it to a full 100 :(

also, 70 flights is really old :(

You can charge it to 100% but not discharge it full!!

And ya 70 is a big number for a lips!!

idont discharge it full ... have an alarm , the moment the quad cant lift at full throttle too , i take it out and recharge it.

What voltage reading do you get at that stage?
I hope you keep the LiPo alarm connected while flying your model.

3.10v is too low. Not recommended. Will reduce your battery life.
Better keep it at 3.7v or 3.8v or else at times you might not get enough time to safely land your quad.

BTW, at what voltage usually your quad can't leave ground?
Usually a properly designed quad can leave ground even at 3 volts.
If your quad is not able to leave ground even at 3.1+ volts then either it's too heavy or something's wrong with the setup (Motor/Prop combo)

If you are looking for higher flight time then stick to MultiStars since they provide the best storage (mah) to weight ratio which will also be beneficial if your quad is already too heavy.
Just make sure that the MultiStar that you're choosing should be able to deliver the required amps.

today i full charge wolfpack (2200mAh) and fly.. my naza start giving low battery indication after 40-50sec.. i fly my quad till battery doesn't lift it any more.. and gives me around 5-6 mints of flight time...
confused y naza start giving me led warning in first mint...

but while using turnigy (2200mAh) it works fine

IndianHobbyShop

@gunnu, please post the voltage reading of both batteries at fully charged state.
Sounds like your Wolfpack LiPo have got damaged due to Low Voltage at some point of time due to which LiPo's usually won't get fully charged and will also show great deal of voltage sagging under load, hence the quicker low battery indication while flying.

That is because the WolfPack LiPos are not of such good quality IMO. The voltage sags a lot under load. Even my LiPo alarm used to beep when I left it plugged in while flying. The LiPo finally died. See this thread: http://www.rcindia.org/batteries-and-chargers/wolfpack-2200-mah-25c-problem/

gunnu

today i gives me flight time for about 5-6 times (first time this much flight time) but led warning in 40-50sec.. forgot to attach lipo alarm..

IndianHobbyShop

Hmm, then i have bad news for you.
Both of your LiPo Packs have already got slightly damaged which can be due to any of the following 2 reasons:
1) Keeping LiPo's at fully charged state for prolonged time. Like weeks or months. You should always store LiPo's at storage voltage of 3.7-3.8 volts per cell.
2) (The more likely reason) You have allowed the batteries to get discharged too much. Usually letting voltage on any cell of a LiPo pack go below 3.8 volts is simply calling for trouble.

The more you do any of the above, the more the cells will get damaged and they will show following abnormalities:
1) They won't get fully charged (i.e won't reach 4.23 volts per cell) = Won't store full 2200mah charge.
2) They will show a great deal of voltage sagging under load = When you'll fly your model and give mid to high throttle, the voltage will drop down to 3.9, 3.8 volts, etc or even lower due to increased internal resistance making the LiPo usable only for a very short amount of time till it reaches the dead low.

Cell1 of your Wolfpack seems most degraded since it has the least voltage at fully charged state out of the 6 cells, hence the early LED Warning.
The Turnigy one seems to be comparatively better but still it's still not in the perfect condition.

Always fly with the LiPo Alarm.
And always keep LiPo Alarm configured at 3.8 volts and you will be able to use LiPo's for a long long time.

Usually the more time you let pass after a LiPo hit low voltage (2.5v or less for any cell) the more it gets damaged and it's internal resistance increases more and more.
Go even lower and the cell will start puffing due to gases releases within the cells due to a certain chemical reaction.
Eureka, you just invented a LiPo powered Paperweight ;D

While your LiPo's (Specially Turnigy) is still usable, you are not able to get it's full advantage while in flight.
Continue with it or get a new one, your choice. But never fly without the LiPo Alarm.

thanx sir.. from next time ill keep this parameters in mind...

thanx..

parichya.gautam

@IHS: well it still takes off at 3.3 easily. i wrote wrong i guess, ive set the alarm at 3.7 at that point i know that i have some time before the quad hovers at full throttle ..

and yes i have my eyes on the MS LiPo , only if the price drops a bit :(
