I have a 1c 2650mah 3s Turnigy in my Hitec Tx.
Usually i charge it only upto 11.9. That lasts me 4 Sundays (24-30 flights) before to goes down to 11.4
Sometimes it goes down to 11.1 if i use the simulator.
Last week i've charged it to 12.6 for the first time, but i fear it will puff up due to low use.

Wonder if 2650 for over Rs 2000 is a marketing ploy?
No reason why a Zippy Compact 3s 1000mah, costing about Rs 750 cannot power a Tx.
In fact, why should a Lipo not good for motor due to puffing not be enough for a Tx?

I think old, retired lipos can be used in Txs.
Expert comments requested.

Iyer sir,

Except the fact it fits the battery bay, i believe there is no advantage of these tx only lipos.

after a long debate with on of a rci member here i am still using a 1000mah 2S lipo zippy(actually a 3S got one lipo dead) as tx battery for tgy9x.

so, if your tx uses 8X aa cells, and the lipo is a 3S and fits your battery bay, you can very well use it.

and my 1000mah lipo lasts for 6 hours of straight use from 8.4-7.4V.
