Hey guys. If you would be seeing an Iron Man suit flying above your head in future, it would be me.

There is always a risk in buying an RTF quad from abroad due to customs and wpc issues.

Malolan Venkataraghavan

Recently i bought a quad, wait for some weeks,if my package will not face massive problem.i will tell u.recently ordered from banggood.so wait for my news.it will be better.stay with me

Well...I have never bought any RTF from abroad due to these difficulties. I prefer to build these with parts sourced from Indian LHSs. As per the members, there is a 50-50 chance for getting RTF quads. Usually overseas sellers don't mention drone or quadcopter. They just mention toy. But customs often x-rays big packets and/or opens the same. If they find Rc toy and asks for WPC, consider is gone because WPC approval is hard to get. See http://www.rcindia.org/radios-and-receivers/procedure-for-obtaining-equipment-type-approval-(eta)-from-wpc/25/

Buying FPV stuff from bang good is always risky. Specially its wireless transmission and receiving device. You will need an import certificate, an wpc permission certificate and such certificates and then and only then that product is allowed to come in India. It will definitely stuck in customs. My friend got this letter from customs when his 6 channel transmitter stuck in customs..

I purchased a Eachine FPV Boscam 5.8G 600mW 32CH Wireless Transmitter Receiver TS832 RC840 from Banggood and shipped via DHL and the total cost including shipping was Rs.4000/- and the was a import duty of Rs.841/- for the declared value of $13USD.  I received the shipment without any problem yesterday. It just took 8 days from ordering to receiving the shipment. :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Gentleman
Did you notice that the shipment was in Bangalore customs for two days (Thursday 11:39 AM to Saturday 03:21 AM) ?
This means that your shipment was held for inspection and released.
Customs play wait and catch game and it is not guaranteed that it will clear every time.

Lucky!! That depends on the time it went from scanning. If they found something like transmitter or receiver or some rc stuff that are not allowed or so, they will open it and will send you a letter. If you are lucky, it will go without detecting under machine.

I bought all my FPV equipment -VTx, VRx, antennas, goggles from abroad without any customs issues. I also recently bought an XK K110 RTF collective pitch heli that got through customs without any issues, despite Gear Best declaring it as an RC Helicopter on the box. YMMV of course, especially since a lot more people have had issues importing RTF quads.

hey team I had past experiences with shipping radios and quad parts from Hobbyking I was served a notice for radio and just had to get it out with the postmaster without much issues. I just bought the eachine ARF FPV 250 racer set from banggood.com(couldn't resist the offer) it doesn't have a radio but it comes with a vtx and a monitor with  rx, will I likely run into troubles? getting it shipped to bangalore.
I read through the forum but all old posts, just wanted to know if any new rules and regulations are in place, sorry if im posting it in the wrong place.

You may be in trouble because quadcopter co.es under drone category which is restricted in India without import licence.

I Recently went to the main office. I overheard an officer talking to a person on the phone about a quad. He said that it has been banned by the DGCA and will need a NOC from the DGCA and the WPC office in order to get cleared. If your lucky you will get it, but I doubt.

glid3r

Oh, noes, I did not have issues with importing my previous quads and parts. Is there any place where I can check what the rules are? so reading through RCIndia I see that you can own a quad but cant fly it. Also now a days you can see these dji phantoms and such used almost everywhere like events or marriages, any clear Idea on this? anybody

glid3r

I actually wanted to buy it from here via quadkopters.com but their stock was out also it costs around 13k in here I got the whole thing plus 7inch monitor for around 8k so couldnt resist. I badly wanted to upgrade to an FPV (currently I fly with goPro)

As I state earlier it is very difficult for it to pass through without getting detained. It's a matter of 100% luck, nothing else. Don't try calling them unless you know what you're doing. Keep us posted. Best of luck.

Thanks a lot pawan, its sent to CED bangalore. I have cleared my reciever, 3D printer stuffs and other items before from there. The commissioner then was a good man. but that was over a year back don't know what is the state now, I have already contacted my seller and told him that I would need a refund if it's declined here.

Pawan123

Okay cool! Most of them are really nice people  it's just that they are hesitant to clear items like Quadcopters at this point of time obviously due to security reasons. I remember 3 years ago it was a piece of cake getting those things in. Just hoping that they set good regulations fast!

sampro999

Hey, don't buy it unless you have WPC NOC READY or you are ready to WASTE your time as well as money. I purchase RTR Car from Amazon with the hope that they assured the Delivery, but after being in the Customs for 20+ days they told its Detained and need WPC NOC or else Write a letter to Send back to seller. In my case i fortunately purchased through Amazon, so they immediately Refunded me the complete cost even still the car is with Customs. So Don't buy from abroad.

glid3r

Wow, Thanks for the info Sampro!! but .......RTR car can't be bought? I thought quads were banned due to their camera and danger.
I went through the WPC site and they seem to allow the usage of the bands we use.
here is what i found.

Also I don't have a wireless radio with it. but I have items like vide transmitter and video receiver built in to 7 inch monitor. Anyways i'm gonna give it a try, since my office is in MG road only its close for me to get to foreign post office, bangalore. I already made arrangements with the seller for refund and he is ready he's gonna keep 20$ for shipping. he also said from feb to april he sold 4 RTF quads to hyderabad, mumbai and mangalore, the ones complete with radio and monitor and everything and he said those were delivered without issues, I'm not sure if he's lying. in his profile he has sold over 60 units so far and he has good reviews of around 47. I will try my best and update you guys here. Thanks for your wise infos and advices. I think It will be wiser to share and ask for opinions in this forum before going ahead and buying such things.
