Hi, I need a square tube(about 10mm side length) with a circular internal cross-section. Something like this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9012__Carbon_Fiber_Square_Tube_750x10_5mm.html
If I order from HK it is going to take a month which is too long. Does anyone have it? Or can someone let me know an alternative for it?
I need it for my VTOL project.
Thanks,
Rohit.
Rohit..you can try with new plastic reapers, intended to replace the wooden reapers..can buy from 6 mm to 12 mm thickness..inner will be round..
If the application for this tube does not require precise square , you can take a round tube and grind the external tube to a square shape.

Rohit,
The tube is available at HK & EMS is the only option to India for large boxes. You will get it within one week of ordering. These are very cheap & you can order multiple. If your project needs precision, I think you should go HK way.

Roopesh bhaiya, what are these reapers that you are talking about? Any pics?
@Ashok bhaiya : I don't want to get into custom hassles, because the parcel is so large it will surely attract the customs officers and then we all know the rest. If I am absolutely unable to source anything locally, then as a last resort option I'll have to head to HK. But, at the moment I'm looking for some local solution.
With my skills, grinding circular tubes into square ones will not be feasible.
its here..and can only use up to 24 inches in single streach, as it will start bend over this length..i use this to my stick trainer aircrafts, hover crafts, and to make rails for my train models, by sawing it in half..you can also try aluminum square tubing intented for runners in wooden constructions..will be light and strong..
Thank You but where does one get these plastic or the aluminum ones? Any local name?
Rohit..go to any general purpose hardware shop, and ask for those..i usually use aluminum square tubes for tri and quads..works well..and inexpensive too..a full length of 9mm square costs Rs 55/- here..can drill easily..and will be very stiff when formed..
You drill the internal cross-section to make it circular?
no..the plastic reapers come with a circular ineer..but the aluminum square tubes will be square in inside..Rohit..if your motor set ups are powerful and according to logic, and the structures are within weight limit, anything will float in air and fly..we always ignores about many good things all around us, for modeling..making a quad or tri is easy..
Check with Rcdhamaka... I think I have seen something like this.
Nope ujj bhaiya, didn't find it on any LHS's site. Will search for those reamers in my city, but I don't know what the local name is or where it is used, so it will be difficult for me to find it,
Its not on the site. Call them up.
@Rupesh bhaiya : Searched some hardware stores, didn't find it, they asked me the usage of these rods, i.e where these are used, I didn't know so I wasn't able to tell them.
@Ujj bhaiya: Will call RCD today.
EDIT : Checked with RCD, they don't have the 10mm one in stock, they have the 6mm by 4mm one which I think will be too thin and the inner hole is only about 2.5 mm in diameter.
