Hi
I need 1 20oz or 12oz paintball tank for some pneumatic robot project that am working on, if someone knows where i can get it cheaply (used/new) it would be helpful.
A co2 tank that could store around the same pressure/weight would also work condition that it is very light . ( total  weight with co2 less than 1.5kg)

Thanks
Rahul

If you want it cheap , you can use Pipes available at local hardware store and blank it with a 5 to 10 mm sheet by welding at your College Workshop as per requirement . Are you a Mechanical Engineer ? We also made a tank by same process for pneumatic application for IIT Mumbai Tech fest  :-)

well i also planned that, but considering such high pressure( 750-1000psi) i dont want to take risks,
can i see ur robot? where in delhi are u located?
I am a student, and take part in robo wars events

In which event , your team is participating?
Mechanical Engineer

Rahulvyas

no event, do you know any events in Delhi?
I am just upgrading my robot, I am learning and exploring new techniques, had made a model in solidworks also.
I participated in a school event with a pneumatic flipper robot.

I am not following any event now..
But you can look for DTU , IIT Delhi , IITK events ..
IIT Bombay sp4mm3r is like a Grand sp4mm3r .
Technically , I like IIT Kanpur events ..

Regarding Pneumatic tank , I just confirmed from my colleagues that our tank max allowable working pressure was 150 psi..

Gents, I have spent many years in Pressure Vessel design & Fabrication, and would just like to add a word of caution: failures in pneumatic vessels are severe, more explosive potentially than in liquid due to the higher stored kinetic energy. So, overdesign! And, do not use flat plates on the ends, get Elliptical weld-on pipe ends, ensure a full penetration weld

asunil

Why not see if you can use a CO2 fire extinguisher for your project?
You'd have to maybe change the valve system entirely, or remove the nozzle make some kind of coupling using brass plumbing fittings.

Thanks sir for valuable information.

There are suppliers for Paintball gun gas tanks, if you specifically need them. Try contacting one of the suppliers. Seek some further advice from Google BABA... :)

@sanjayrai55 thanks for letting us know, when i made my own tank using 2kg cooking gas cylinder(portable) I just had put 40psi compressed air into it. the problem is that air compressors generally dont fill over 300psi..so its a trouble, with co2 it aint, i can refill it myself using a fire extinguisher.

@asunil, smallest fire extinguisher available is also over 2kg weight.. so its a bit trouble

@aditya, thanks for the event list, are open entries allowed? does your college host one?

@punty  i tried, found few which sell quite costly, about 3000 for a small cylinder

@v2 eagle - these cartridges are too small for my use. I plan to regulate 150psi per one flip.. so dont think these small tanks would do. thanks though

@Rahulvyas brother if you know shops selling refrigeration spares then give them a try as well. If I remember well they do have 1 KG cylinders available. I am sure it'll be good enough as they hold refrigerant coolant in liquid form.
Not 100% sure but you'll have to give them a try if you have not already done that.

punty

Have you given a try to cylinder from a Soda making machine? A small one which can be used at home?

Rahulvyas

punty, no, where can i find it? can u link me?

Give this olx search a try, call a few of them and you might get lucky.

However if you search locally there might be shops that refill them. And you can definitely buy a spare one from them. Think it should come under 1000 INR.

http://www.indiamart.com/vintexsafety/co2-gas-cartridges.html  Give them a try as well.

Rahulvyas

awesome, i will do it, and let u know if am successful, but u sure soda tank can store over 1000psi co2 without any problem?

Sorry mate, Unfortunately I am not an expert in that. That you'll just have to figure out by yourself or seek some expert advise.

saikat

that is about 50 kg/cm - very high pressure - buy a commercial one with proper test certificate
trying to fabricate is dangerous. Also be aware that any mishap with amatuer fabricated tanks will also
probably involve the  police.

Rahulvyas

@saikat, wow!! never thought it would have been so dangerous, thanks for letting us know anyway... thats why i asked for paintball tanks, because most of them are rated above 3000psi..
