Shehwar

Guys I'm planning to build a quadrotor for my final year project.
I was rather hopingto get this deal

www.rcindia.org/deals-and-special-offers/artf-quadcopter-completely-assembled-soldered-!!!/

but when I contacted him he said it was out of stock.
So after searching for and efficient configuration, I came up with the following list:

1300Kv Brushless DC Outrunner Motor: Qty 4
20Amp BLDC ESC: Qty 4
10x4.5 inch (25x 11cm) Pusher and Puller Propeller Matched Pair: Qty: 2 Pair
4/6 Channel 2.4GHz Remote Control with Receiver: Qty 1
Lithium Polymer 3 Cell, 11.1V, 3300mAh, 25C discharge Battery: Qty 1
Protection Circuit for 3 Cell Li-Po Battery: Qty 1
B6AC Universal Battery Charger: Qty 1

Guys I've searched the internet for parts but I'd still like professional guidance whether this list is right or not.
Also if anyone knows of a similar deal as in the link then please inform me. It was sort of the optimum deal I could get but unfortunately I'm not.

I'm one a tight budget guys so please help me out
I'm open to recommendations regarding change in configuration.
But please suggest bearing in mind that this my first build.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Shehwar, Welcome to RcIndia!

Your List is not accurate but yes it contains all the basic components to build a Quad. You havent added a Quad Control board. Is that your innovation in your project or have you simply forgotten about it?

I suggest you to go through the following links before proceeding with anything-

Shehwar

I'm a beginner but I'm thorough.
Yes that is my own innovation.
I'm planning to make a dspic 6dof quad controller board.
I'm gonna make use of this.

Still working on the coding and frame though.
Do you have information in any similar deal as the one I shared ??

Shehwar

Guys please reply.

I would like to give emphasis on the deal I mentioned about. Cos it lies just on the border of my budget.

Ashta

You can't be first because you do not know!

Shehwar

 Ashta Sir,
as per your suggestion,
I've switched to the nano-wii  board.

http://flyduino.net/NanoWii-ATmega32u4-Based-MultiWii-FC_1

Do you think this will do the job with alex's code ??

Also is there a good simulator for the codes ??

Ashta

#6
yes i think it will run Allex's code. But it seems that it doe's not have Magnetometerand the Barometer
You can't be first because you do not know!

Shehwar

Yes it doesn't.
Still a better replacement for dspic udb.

Sir,I guess alex's code is made for those components too.
I think that it supports those two components alone also.

Btw do you think the configuration I stated in my original post will be compatible with the nano-wii ??
I would like your opinion on the matter.

Ashta

i think that it will be compatible. Mayb eindividual sensors also might work since the code supports this
You can't be first because you do not know!

hyd_quads

Yes, nanowii is ofcourse compatible with multiwii (aka Alex's code). AFAIK it uses the 6-azis MPU6050 Acc+Gyro module and people are going crazy about this. MultiWii 2.1 (maybe even 2.0) supports this sensor.

You can read it here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1671968

My opinion: That's not a very cool controller at that price.

You can buy a CRIUS SE with Baro and Mag from Goodluckbuy at less than $50 and NanoWii costs EUR39 ~ $46.
Having Baro and Mag too is also a +, because once you make your quad and are able to fly it pretty well, you suddenly begin feeling the need for Altitude hold, etc. etc, and you will have to change your controller.

Sir,
I'm just a beginner. I don't want to complicate things unnecessarily.
This is a project for my college not personal.
So all I need it to do is fly stably and somewhat acrobatic.
Besides I talked to ashta sir regarding his own " allinone " controller board.
He says he'd start production if he gets a minimum order of 20 boards.
So if you can then help spread the word.

hyd_quads

@Shewar

CRIUS SE is just as simple (or complicated) as NanoWii is, except that it has a Baro and a Mag extra.
Or you could buy CRIUS Lite, which is just like the NanoWii (just a diff. in sensor brand)

Shehwar

Know any board that use 32 / 16 bit controller ??

hyd_quads

#13
Yeah, it always helps when you're more specific. Naze32 (that comes under AfroFlight series) is an excellent 32-bit FC. Entirely developed by timecop of RCG. Based on STM processor, you can use multwii GUI.
Acc+Gyro+Mag+Baro FC is some Rs.3000+.
Available (only?) on www.abusemark.com
Note: Naze32 NOT to be confused with Naza.

EDIT: btw, perhaps you need to change your power system. 1045 props on a 1300kv is on the higher side I guess. Either use 700-900kv motors or <=9" props.

Shehwar

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I think I will go most probably go for this.

Please suggest any additional circuitry or change if needed.

I hope you found my reason satisfactory as to why I wanted to choose a higher order controller.

Why do I need to change the config ??
Do you think it might cause an imbalance in flight ??

hyd_quads

It won't cause an imbalance, but that system will be an amp-muncher. btw, I don't know much abt power systems, let seniors answer that.

You'll need a programmer. (I don't know if it's USBasp or USB AVR, refer that RCG link.)And some male-male servo wires too.

Can anyone tell me where to buy good quality components  from in India ??
I wanted to order from hobbyking first but I've heard that the customs dept harras you a lot for this type of stuff. And you need to bribe them A LOT :Rs: . I'm already on a tight budget and seriously can't afford to spend an extra penny on any unnecessary matters as such
I'd like to buy the radio first and use the flight gear software (basically because its free )   so as to train myself to some extent for the feild.

I wanna buy everything together but first i'd like to meet someone nearby who has experience in this field or at least made a quadrotor.

Can anyone please help me out here ??

I've decided the config to be based around naze32 board for a micro-copter with 2100kv motors and 5*3*3 slowfly electric props and a 3s 4000mAh 40c battery.
Am i on the correct path ??
Please help me out guys.

Keep your order value below $50 including shipping, use airmail/air-parcel to ship and avoid ordering lipo or Tx/Rx(both of these items are available in abundance with our great LHSs ;D). If you know someone with a hobbyking account get your things through him, then you can declare only a percentage of the real value :P Your parcel will sail through without any problems :)

Of all true manifestations of the head,
Of the heart, of the soul,

Sorry sir but I found your post a bit confusing.

Only declaring a parts of your real value ???
Isn't that kinda fraud ???

No offence but......

OMG! That's very very scary! How about a modi***d invoice?

Shehwar

^ no use.
They demand paypal/bank transaction receipt.

hyd_quads

No, there's a discussion going on in the 'parcel stuck in customs' thread wherein some members said they were asked only the invoice most of the times.
