Thank you for your reply! I'll check out the links which you have sent. However these kits are pretty expensive. Hopefully some other members have some unused kit that they wish to sell.

Hi, I found these servos on robu. Will any of these work?
1) https://robu.in/product/towerpro-mg945-digital-high-speed-servo-motor-standard-quality/
2) https://robu.in/product/towerpro-mg995-metal-gear-servo-motor/
3) https://robu.in/product/towerpro-mg995-servo-high-speed-digital-metal-gear-ball-bearing-torque-12kg-robot-arduino-good-quality180-degree-rotation/
The specifications certainly look alright
As for the repeatability ( the ability to centre back in the precise same position always) and the longevity, I can't comment as I haven't used them.
I have used these, and their performance has been satisfactory:

IMHO the best all-round budget servo is the HiTec HS 311. I have some that are 15 years old and still going strong

Sumeet & RCD are authorised HiTec dealers

Why?
Asking just out of curiosity...
A 60" 40 size balsa airplane is widely considered the best way to learn to fly RC.
But it's expensive. Say 20k for airframe, engine/ prop/ tank, and 5k for servos and onboard battery.
And far more expensive in a crash than a foamie!
Pic 1 shows a typical 40 size trainer
But please also consider something like this White Yak12. (Pic 2)
I sold mine to Bessie on this forum.
I really miss it when I see videos of him flying it!
Hi Iyer sir,
I was recommended this engine size by Sanjay Rai sir that's why I am looking for it. He told me that a 40 size engine can be used in a lot of different size frames.
Also where can I get a plane like a Yak12 or a 40" trainer? Also which engine should be used for both of them?
Thanking you in anticipation,
Adel
Also is the yak 12 made of balsa or foam?

Moulded foam ARF from RCBAZAAR. Had everything except radio and lipo.
Not available any more.
Not a single suitable model or engine in stock at either RCBazaar or RCDhamaka. Unfortunate.
I see. I am actually flying electric planes right now. That's why wanted to experiment with nitro planes. Do you know of anyone who might have a plane like the trainer which you sent a picture off for sale?
Have you tried them ?? https://www.aeromodelindia.com/product-category/model-aero-plane/radio-control-model-kit/
And https://www.sharmamodelaero.com/engine.htm
They are the same org.
I am trying to find some cheaper kits then the ones they are selling. RC Hyderabad had some good cheap kits but unfortunately now they have stopped making them.

Our local pro makes a 40 size trainer in ply, balsa and depron.
Well finished and flies extremely well. Many of our local fliers learnt on one.
Doesn't have one ready, but can make one.
The problem is the cost. Rs 10k! For bare airframe.
Add 5-6k for servos, clunk tank, accessories etc, and 5-8k for engine.
So 20-25k excluding radio.
I bought my SoloStar (with 4 Futaba servos) from him for 12k ten years ago. At that time it was already about 10 years old. But I'm still flying it!
The price is the problem or else I would have bought the kit from Sharma Models. Nice to hear that you are still flying a 20 year old plane :)

ARF.
I guess that's why it's expensive. Is it possible for you to give me his contact number so that I can ask him if he can make a kit for me?

Ok thanks sir
Remember - if you buy a kit, you would also need to buy covering film
Check International websites - a kit is usually the same price or more expensive than an ARF! Don't ask me why :)

I sent him a message asking if he could cut out a kit for me and his reply was that he was making big planes right now and had stopped making the 40 size kits for the time being. He also said that it was pretty hard to get a kit in the market anymore because most of the people were buying ARF planes and whoever wanted a kit cut it out themselves.
Unfortunately I don't have the expertise or the experience to cut out a kit by myself :)

That's very odd. I guess the price is equal because more people want to buy kits instead of ARF planes there.
@K K Iyer
Sir please let me know if you know of anyone else who makes kits.
If you could get hold of a used 25 size engine, and are willing to work in Corro/Balsa/Ply you could make a Scout.
http://www.rcindia.org/gas-glow-nitro-planes/scout-in-nitro/
I could arrange a set of wood parts and Landing Gear/Wheels. Won't cost much
Needs ~ 20 gm MG Servos. This or equivalent https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbykingtm-hk15148b-digital-servo-2-8kg-0-14sec-19g.html

Sir for this I need an 0.25 nitro engine? If I can find it then I would love to build this plane. Also will I be able to use a 0.25 engine with a lot of different sized models? Or for those do I need an 0.46 engine?
Also am curious to know what is the difference between an 0.25 engine and 0.46 engine. Could you please explain it to me?

1. a 25 =~ 4 cc; 46 =~ 7.4 cc. 25 means 0.25 cu in engine displacement
In the formula Power = {PLAN . k } P = Brake Mean Effective Pressure ( a function of compression ratio and fuel combustion) L is swept length (by Piston) A is area (of Piston face ) N is rpm and k is a constant depending on Units used; L X A is Swept Volume, in this case either 0.25 cu in or 4 cc
2. Far less 25 kits and RTF's in the world today compared to 40-46. Plenty of plans, as many as 40 size. In the 80's 25 was as popular as 40
3. Joginder Singh should have a used 25 engine. Check with him. Even ASP is OK. He will run and check the engine thoroughly before selling
Thank you for your detailed reply! I have messaged Joginder Singh and am waiting for his reply. Also if I decide to build the scout what all do I need to get? Also do I need to cut out any parts in ply/coro/balsa?

2~2.5 mm Corro & 4 mm Corro. You would need to cut the corro, and some trimming on Balsa/Ply

Sir If I decide to build it then where do I get the plans to cut the Corro? I am guessing that the plans are pretty big so how do I print them to scale on my normal printer? Is there an option for tiled plans like in the FT plans? Are the wings also made of corro? From what I understand you are going to arrange for the wooden parts and landing gear of the plane. So apart from them and the linkage stoppers, servos, Push Rods, what all hardware do I require to build the plane?
Also for some strange reason the pictures in this build log of yours are not getting loaded. http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/scout-15-adapted-to-corro-electric/
Plans here: http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=6420
Brief Specs:
Span: 50"
Chord: 9"
Type: Low Winger Sport, aerobatic trainer
AUW: ~ 1.25 Kg

You need long push rods
Any printer will give you option for tiled plans. But better to go to a commercial print shop (who do architectural and engineering drawings) and get 100% scale in a single sheet. In Gurgaon this costs 80-100 Rupees

Hi Sanjay sir,
I have tried to find an 25 size nitro engine but unfortunately nobody has responded to my ads on any WhatsApp groups. However as you know I have found an thunder tiger 46 size engine for a reasonable price. Just wish the scout was compatible with it so I would not have this problem. :banghead:
Iyer sir if you know of anyone who has an used 25 size engine please send me his contact details.
Thanking you in anticipation,

Rs 12740!
That's pretty expensive.
@Adel,
Do you have any glow engine at all?
No sir.
@Adel,
No response in 2 days?
No experience of glow motors, eh?
Doesn't matter.
Except that you'll need a lot of ancillary stuff. (Forget the airframe for now)
1. Engine. Preferably .09, .15, or .20. Certainly smaller than a 40.
2. Prop. 7x4, 8x4, 9x5, 9x6
3. Clunk tank, or at least some tank, and tubing
4. Glow driver with it's charger
5. Fuel, simplest way is to get 1 lit from aeromodellingtutor.
6. Some way to mount the engine solidly
Will tell you more if you wish...
Hi Iyer sir,
Thank you for your detailed reply. I would be very grateful If you could tell me more on what all I need for the engine and what to do when I get an engine.
Also Harveer Sodha is selling a used 25 size engine. He has sent me two pics of it and says that he will make a video of it running when I finalise the deal. His engine will be in good condition right?
Thanking you in advance

PS: Sir I responded to your question by saying I didn't have any experience in glow engines.
Harveer Sodha is a very reputed modeller

ARF Rs 10900 (excl engine and servos)
12k for airframe+engine+servos is an outstanding deal.
